On 5 April 2026, Mrs. Nadariya Nopakun Phromyothi, Chargée d’Affaires, a.i., Royal Thai Embassy in Brussels, and Mr. Pathompong Singthong, Counsellor, attended the Buddhist ceremony celebrating Thai New Year or Songkran 2026 at Wat Thai Dhammaram, Waterloo, Belgium. The ceremony was led by the Venerable Phra Kru Sangarakchuchart Apinyano from Wat Phai Lom, Pathum Thani province, Thailand, and 3 Thai monks from Belgium and the Netherlands. Thai temple-goers and locals attending the ceremony offered robes and alms to monks. The participants also gently poured water over the hands of the monks and elders to pay respect and seek blessings on this auspicious occasion of the Thai new year 2026.
