Power of Attorney
The certification of Thai nationals’ signature in a power of attorney and a letter of consent.
*Non-Thais’ signatures can only be certified in the case of a letter of consent for their child’s Thai passport request. For other purposes, please see the certification of non-Thai nationals’ signature
**The certification of Thai nationals’ signatures must be done only in the presence of the Embassy officer. Applicants must not sign on the power of attorney in advance.
***Each power of attorney can only be presented to one authority. Therefore, please study the details of the authority and the amount of power of attorney that you need to request and present. Please duly prepare the documents that need to be attached with your intended power of attorney and prepare an additional copy of each document for the legalisation application form which needs to be collected by the Embassy.
Required documents
- Power of attorney form
- General form for purposes such as
- requesting a copy of birth certificate/ attestation of birth
- requesting a letter of marital status certification/ certificate of celibacy
- legalising documents at the Department of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, or the offices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and at the Embassy of Belgium/Luxembourg in Thailand
- requesting a letter of certification (child custody – Por. Kor. 14) ( together with 2 copies of the child’s birth certificate )
- Land power of attorney (TD 21/ท.ด.21) form (together with 2 copies of the land title deed)
- Condominium power of attorney form (Condo 21/อ.ช.21) (together with 2 copies of the condominium title deed)
- A letter of consent form (Giving the child permission to request a Thai passport (the other parent must accompany the child)) + a copy of the child’s birth certificate and other relevant documents (if any) such as a certificate of name change
- A letter of consent and power of attorney form (Authorising a person in Thailand to take the child to request a Thai passport and visa) + a copy of the child’s birth certificate and other relevant documents such as a certificate of name change
- Documents of the power grantor’s documents
- A copy of the valid Thai I.D. card (certified “True Copy” and signed)
- A copy of Thai passport (certified “True Copy” and signed)
- A copy of House registration/ Tabian Baan (certified “True Copy” and signed)
- A copy of other relevant documents (if any) such as a birth certificate and a certificate of name change
- Documents of the authorised person in Thailand
- A copy of the valid Thai I.D. card (certified “True Copy” and signed)
- A copy of House registration/ Tabian Baan (certified “True Copy” and signed)
- A copy of other relevant documents (if any) such as a birth certificate and a certificate of name change
Fee: 15 euros per power of attorney (pay in cash (banknote only) with an exact amount or Bancontact)
Processing time: 5-7 working days

Examples of document preparation
Example A
If you wish to authorise Mr. A to request a copy of your birth certificate at the District Office on your behalf (one place), you will need to prepare the following documents:
- A power of attorney form for 1 document
- your own documents as a power grantor (a copy of Thai ID card, Thai passport, Thai House registration, and other relevant documents: 1 copy of each document)
- Mr. A’s documents as an authorised person (a copy of Thai ID card, Thai passport, Thai House registration, and other relevant documents: 1 copy of each document)
- A legalisation application form to file your request at the Embassy, together with an extra copy of documents in item 2 and item 3 to attach with the application form
- fee: 15 euros per power of attorney
Example B
If you wish to authorise Mr. A to request a copy of your birth certificate at the District Office and legalise such a document at the Department of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand as well as at the Belgian Embassy in Thailand on your behalf (three places in total), you will need to prepare the following documents:
- 3 power of attorney forms
- your own documents as the power grantor (a copy of Thai ID card, Thai passport, Thai House registration, and other relevant documents: 3 copies of each document)
- Mr. A’s documents as the authorised person (a copy of Thai ID card, Thai passport, Thai House registration, and other relevant documents: 3 copies of each document)
- A legalisation application form to file your request at the Embassy, together with an extra copy of documents in item 2 and item 3 to attach with the application form (in total 4 copies)
- fee: 45 euros (15 euro per power of attorney)
