  1. Concerns:
  • children born in Belgium or in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg of a Thai parent (father or mother)
  1. Documents to provide :

 2.1 Concerning the child :

    • a) International Birth Certificate (in 4 languages), legalised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belgium or Luxemburg (both digital and sticker versions are accepted)
    • b) A copy of the birth declaration delivered by the hospital with the following details :
      • first name and last name of the child
      • weight of the child at birth
      • date and time of birth
      • name and address of the hospital
      • the document should contain a letterhead indicating the hospital details or the stamp or signature of the doctor or the hospital personnel.
    • c) Identity documents in the case that the child also holds other nationalities.
    • d) If the child is over 10 years old on the date of registration, pictures of the child with the Thai parent over the past must be presented.

 2.2 Documents related to the parents :

    • a) of the Thai parent
      • a copy of the Thai Identity card
      • a copy of the Thai passport
      • a copy of the residence registration book (Tabian Baan)
    • b) of the non-Thai parent
      • a copy of the Identity card
      • a copy of the passport
      • a copy of the household composition in Belgium/Luxembourg
    •  c) Marriage certificate of parents
      • if married in Thailand, a copy of the marriage certificate.
      • if married in Belgium, a copy of the international marriage certificate is legalised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
      • if married in another country, the marriage certificate has to be translated into English Thai and legalised by the relevant Embassy.
      • If unmarried, the child born to a Thai father and a non-Thai mother is ineligible to apply for Thai citizenship unless scientific proof of biological parenthood such as a DNA test is provided.
      • If unmarried, the child born to a Thai mother and a non-Thai father is eligible to apply for Thai citizenship. The child can bear the same surname as his/her mother. If the parent wishes the child to have the non-Thai father’s surname, a letter of consent from the father is required. (Click here for the form and duly sign)
