Divorce Certificate

Under the Thai Law, divorce registration can be requested at the Royal Thai Embassy in Brussels.

The Registration of divorce at the Thai embassy in Brussels is valid under Thai law, but it may not valid under Belgian law.

Please contact the Belgian local registry office regarding divorce registration in Belgium.

The Royal Thai Embassy in Brussels may issue divorce certificates to Thai citizens who reside in Belgium & Luxembourg

• The divorce must be by mutual consent.

Required documents for divorce registration :

• • Divorce Registration Form
  • Divorce settlement agreement
  • Original marriage certificate which has an official seal from the district office in Thailand (if it is not available, you must request a copy with the official seal first)
  • Thai national ID card and/or valid passport (of both spouses) (Original plus 1 copy)
  • Thai house registration which has the 13-digit ID number of the individual applying (1 copy)
  • Belgian or Luxembourg ID Card.

Two witnesses for divorce registration must submit:

1. • Thai identification cards (for Thai nationals)
   • ID card or passport (for other nationals)

Fees

There are no fees associated with applying for a divorce certificate

Processing

• Prepare all of the necessary documents and send all copies to the Embassy for documents review at [email protected] All files should be named after the documents and attached in the same order of the checklist, e.g., “1.Request form of legalization 2. Divorce Agreement Form 3. Application for registration of divorce”

• The document review takes 7-14 working days or more, depending on the number of applications at the time. Incomplete/incorrect documents may delay the process.
• Once the document review is completed, the Embassy will arrange an appointment for divorce registration. Both divorce applicants accompanied by two witnesses must appear at the Embassy to submit all the original documents, sign registration documents and obtain a divorce certificate.
