On 26 May 2024, on the occasion of Vesak Day, the Royal Thai Embassy, in cooperation with the Embassy of Sri Lanka, and the Embassy of Myanmar, co-hosted a Dhamma Talk on “Buddhist Wisdom for Inner Peace” by Phra Ajaan Chandako followed by a meditation session at the Thai Residence. About 50 people participated in the event, including ambassadors, Belgium and EU’s officials in their private capacities, representatives from Buddhist Union of Belgium (BUB) and Thai organisations in Belgium.
Ajaan Chandako was ordained in 2011 at Wat Asokaram, Samut Prakarn, Thailand, and resided at Wat Pha Nanachat, Ubon Ratchatani, Thailand, and Wat Pha Muttodaya (Muttodaya Kloster) in Stammbach, Germany. Ajaan Chandako has been interested in Buddhism since his young age. He travelled to India and Thailand to learn about different cultures and Buddhism. As a layman, he once came to practice at Wat Thai Dhammaram, Waterloo, Belgium. During this trip, he also went to pay respect to Phra Raja Suddhivides, the Abbot of Wat Thai Dhammaram.
