On 26 May 2024, H.E. Mrs. Kanchana Patarachoke, Ambassador-Designate, and Mr. Pornthep Srithanathorn, Minister (Agricultural Affairs), as well as the Embassy’s officers, participated in the Buddhist ceremony on the occasion of Vesak Day 2024 at Wat Dhammapateep, Muizen, Belgium. On this occasion, the Embassy also invited Phra Ajaan Chandako, a Spanish monk who has been ordained in the Thai Buddhist Forest tradition since 2011 at Wat Pha Nanachat (The International Forest Monastery), Ubon Ratchathani, Thailand, to join in the Buddhist ceremony. Thai communities, their families, and friends, in Belgium and nearby countries participated in the event.
Vesak Day is the most important day for Buddhists worldwide as it marks the day of birth, enlightenment, and passing away of the Buddha.
