On the occasion of the International Women’s Day (8 March), the Embassy wishes to send its best regards to all women, Thais and non-Thais, in Belgium and Luxembourg.

Facts and Figures : Thailand’s commitment on women issues
• 2015 Gender Equality Act to protect everyone from gender-based discrimination.
• Implemented an ‘Education for All’ policy to enable all youth to have equal access to education regardless of their gender. Aiming to eliminate gender disparity at all levels of education.
• Improved and Developed legislation to promote women’s rights and gender equality to protect women from domestic violence and from sexual violations and harassment in the workplace
• Developed a curriculum on gender roles to cultivate positive attitudes and an acceptance of gender equality in children from an early age.
• Collecting sex disaggregated data, for analytical purposes and for formulating gender-sensitive policies as well as for monitoring progress made in the realisation of gender equality.
• Training to relevant public agencies in order to promote gender-responsive budgeting.
• Ensure universal access to sexual and reproductive health and reproductive rights.
• Combat and suppress human trafficking while also taking care of and rehabilitating victims of human trafficking, particularly women and children.
Also this year, Thailand has begun implementing the Same-Sex Marriage Act.
