On 22 November 2024, the Royal Thai Embassy in Brussels organised a virtual meeting with “Volunteer Consuls” to discuss ways of working to protect and provide assistance to Thai nationals in Belgium and Luxembourg in accordance with the Embassy’s “Guidelines for Volunteer Consuls.” The meeting, attended by around 12 Volunteer Consuls, stressed the importance of raising awareness of Thai nationals with regard to the work of Volunteer Consuls for effective and timely assistance. Providing information on the Volunteer Consul network on the Embassy’s website and arranging a get-together with Thai nationals in each area are key to achieving such objectives.
The “Volunteer Consul” was formed in 2024 by the Embassy as a network of Thai nationals living in Belgium and Luxembourg who volunteer to support the consular work of the Embassy, especially in protecting and providing preliminary assistance to other Thai nationals across the two countries.
