On 2 April 2026, H.E. Mrs. Kanchana Patarachoke, Ambassador of Thailand to Belgium, welcomed a delegation from the United Nations Youth Association Flanders – Antwerp Branch (UNYA Antwerp). The delegation comprised approximately 15 university students from various institutions across the Flanders region who are interested in pursuing careers in diplomacy and international relations. The visit aimed to provide students with insights into the role of the Royal Thai Embassy and to offer first-hand experience from practicing diplomats.
On this occasion, the Ambassador introduced the role of the Royal Thai Embassy in Brussels in promoting both bilateral and multilateral relations with Belgium, Luxembourg, and the European Union. Her Excellency also provided an overview of the roles and responsibilities of diplomats, as well as the Embassy’s mission in assisting Thai nationals abroad. In addition, Embassy officials delivered in-depth briefings on various areas of work, including bilateral affairs, consular services, and Thailand’s engagement with the European Union in both political and economic dimensions. The session also featured an interactive discussion, allowing students to ask questions and exchange views closely with the diplomats.
UNYA is a youth organization dedicated to promoting awareness, understanding, and active engagement of young people in international affairs, particularly within the framework of the United Nations. It also serves as a platform for students interested in diplomacy and multilateral cooperation to develop essential skills such as analytical thinking, negotiation, and intercultural communication through activities including Model United Nations simulations, seminars, and study visits.
The Royal Thai Embassy in Brussels was pleased to welcome the UNYA Antwerp delegation and hopes that the students gained valuable knowledge and insights that will support their interest in pursuing diplomatic careers in the future.
