On 24 March 2026, H.E. Mrs. Kanchana Patarachoke, Ambassador of Thailand, as the current Chair of the ASEAN Brussels Committee (ABC), chaired the second ABC meeting of the year. The meeting was attended by Ambassadors, Chargés d’Affaires, and representatives from all Embassies of ASEAN Member States in Brussels.

 

The committee reviewed the progress of ongoing initiatives and further discussed the joint activities scheduled under Thailand’s chairmanship. Key topics included strengthening ASEAN-EU relations, cooperation with Belgium and Luxembourg, and advancing partnerships through upcoming activities including a seminars on EU circular economy regulations, a study visit to the EU’s Emergency Response Coordination Centre, cultural participation in Europe Day’s event and Nexus Luxembourg 2026.

 

On this occasion, the ABC also hosted a farewell lunch for H.E. Mr. Lim Hong Huai, Ambassador of Singapore, and Mrs. Lim Lay Keng May, spouse of the Ambassador of Singapore, upon his retirement, expressing deep appreciation for the dedicated service and contributions to fostering ASEAN solidarity in Brussels throughout his tenure. On the same occasion, ABC also welcomed H.E. Mr. Andy Rachmianto, Ambassador-Designate of Indonesia to Belgium upon the assumption of his duties, together with his spouse.
