The Buddhist ceremony on the occasion of Buddhist Lent Day 2024 at Wat Buddharama, Sint Niklaas, Belgium
On 14 July 2024, H.E. Mrs. Kanchana Patarachoke, Ambassador of Thailand to Belgium, together with Mr. Nithi Patarachoke, spouse of the Ambassador, Ms. Siribhusaya Ungphakorn, Minister for Commerce, and embassy officials, attended the Buddhist ceremony on Buddhist Lent Day 2024 at Wat Buddharama, Sint Niklaas, Belgium. Many Thai and foreign nationals attended the ceremony and offered alms and candles to the monks for the lent period. Phra Raja Visuddhivides, the Abbot of Wat Thai Dhammaram, together with Phra Kru Siri Buddhivongse Vides, the Abbot of Wat Buddharama, and another 2 monks led the chanting and gave blessing to the participants. In the afternoon, participants celebrated the occasion by lining up a candle procession.
This year is special for Wat Buddharama as the White Jade Buddha, built by Thai craftsmen and transported all the way from Thailand, has been installed at the temple for templegoers to pay homage and respect. The inaugural ceremony will be held this October.
