On 27 June 2025, H.E. Mrs. Kanchana Patarachoke, Ambassador of Thailand to Belgium, together with the Embassy team, welcomed Ms. Siriporn Wuthilaohaphan, Managing Director & Thailand Country General Manager, Solvay Asia Pacific Co.Ltd. as the President of Belgium-Luxembourg/Thai Chamber of Commerce (BeLuThai), along with Mr. Tom Thomas, Director of BeLuThai.
Both sides exchanged views on global economic outlook and investment trends in Thailand. Issues being discussed include cooperation in potential industries such as logistics, food technology and innovation, fintech, semiconductor, and recycled products. In terms of investing in Thailand, the emphasis is on Thailand’s strategic location, investment promotion incentives in key economic zones such as the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC). The Thai-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA), once concluded, will stimulate more trade and investment flows. The BeLuThai can be instrumental in connecting its members who are Belgian, Luxembourg and Thai companies in Thailand.
The Belgian-Luxembourg/Thai Chamber of Commerce (BeLuThai) was established in 1992, succeeding the Thai-Belgium Business Association (established in 1990). As a small yet dynamic chamber with approximately 80 corporate and individual members, BeLuThai aims to support Belgian and Luxembourgish companies’ effort in market access and investment in Thailand by providing information and services pertaining to trade and investment, finance and industry. Through organising networking events and activities relevant to Belgian, Luxembourg, and Thai businesses, views and interests of the Belgian and Luxembourg business community can be conveyed to both Thai public and private sectors.
The Solvay Group, one of the top 5 biggest Belgian companies, has its presence in Thailand since 1987. Its investment in Thailand includes the world’s largest Hydrogen Peroxide manufacturing plant as well as the largest Sodium Bicarbonate plant in South East Asia, located in the Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate, Rayong province.
