On 26 March 2026, H.E. Mrs. Kanchana Patarachoke, Ambassador of Thailand to the EU, together with the Ambassador of the Philippines participated in the roundtable discussion on “EU-ASEAN Trade Relations: an ASEAN Business Perspective,” co-hosted by the Europabüro der Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and EU-ASEAN Business Council. The event was attended by around 20 participants representing leading European companies such as Ericsson, Coca-Cola, Michelin, Bosch, and Lidl, as well as organisations such as the Federation of German Industries (BDI) and GIZ. Participants shared views on both the opportunities and challenges in EU-ASEAN trade relations, highlighting issues such as operational difficulties in implementing EU environmental regulations, the utilisation of EU FTAs to reduce trade and non-tariff barriers, diversification of EU supply chains, and strategies to address the ongoing energy crisis.
