On 20 May 2025, Her Excellency Mrs. Kanchana Patarachoke, Ambassador of Thailand, presented her Letters of Credence to Her Excellency Ms. Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, at Berlaymont Building, Brussels, following her presentation of credentials to His Excellency Mr. Charles Michel, the then-President of the European Council on 14 November 2024. According to the protocol of the European Union, the presentations of credentials to both the President of the European Commission and the European Council fully accredited her as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Head of the Mission of the Kingdom of Thailand to the European Union.

Thailand and the European Union enjoy one of the closest and longest-standing partnerships between their respective regions, grounded in shared universal principles and values. Both sides continue to deepen cooperation across a broad spectrum of areas—including political dialogue, economic relations, trade and investment, human rights, innovation, and sustainability—at both the bilateral level and within the broader ASEAN - EU framework.

Negotiations on a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Thailand and the European Union are currently underway, with five rounds successfully concluded and three additional rounds anticipated later this year.

Furthermore, the inaugural meeting of the Thai–EU Joint Committee under the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA) is scheduled to take place in July.
