The Royal Thai Embassy in Brussels, together with the Department of European Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has published an article entitled “Why Thailand should be exempt from Schengen visa” in the September 2025 issue of The Parliament magazine. The article presents solid statistical data to inform policymakers and networks within various EU institutions about the reasons why Thai nationals should be granted visa exemption for travel to the Schengen area.

The Thai Government has been continuously advocating and engaging with the EU on this matter, even though the EU has not yet established a process for considering additional countries for visa exemption. In the meantime, we can all contribute to this effort by promoting the positive image of Thai tourists as well as the Thai community in Europe, thereby supporting a favorable consideration by the EU.
