On 29 April 2024, H.E. Mrs. Kanchana Patarachoke, Ambassador-Designate to Belgium and her team met with Mr. Phil Lane, founder and executive director of Oasis Belgium and Ms. Emma Goodling, director of Oasis Belgium as well as the Oasis team which includes Thai staffs, at the office of Oasis Belgium on Rue d’Alsace Lorraine 44, Ixelles, 1050. The Ambassador-Designated praised the ongoing effort of Oasis Belgium in helping foreign nationals including Thai people in Belgium and Luxembourg, especially those who are in distress and need help.
Oasis Belgium was founded in 2007 as a non-profit organisation which aims at assisting foreigners, especially Asians, in Belgium who are facing human trafficking, domestic violence, divorce, and sexual and labour exploitation. Oasis Belgium works with its partners i.e. IOM, SOSenfants, to follow up their cases as to prevent them from re-exploitation. In 2023 alone, Oasis Belgium helped 114 Thai nationals. The Royal Thai Embassy pledges its continued support for Oasis Belgium in carrying out this noble mission.
