The Royal Thai Embassy in Brussels joined Songkran celebration at Wat Thai Dhammaram, Waterloo, Belgium
On 6 April 2025, Mrs. Nadariya Nopakun Phromyothi, Chargé d’Affaires, a.i., of the Royal Thai Embassy in Brussels, together with Ms. Siribhusaya Ungphakorn, Minister for Commercial Affairs, officials from the Embassy, and the Office of Customs Affairs in Brussels, participated in the Songkran merit-making ceremony at Wat Thai Dhammaram in Waterloo, Belgium.
The ceremony was presided over by Phra Raja Visuddhivides, Abbot of Wat Thai Dhammaram, and was warmly attended by members of the Thai communities from Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, and Germany, as well as members of the Lao and Cambodian communities. On this occasion, the Chargé d’Affaires, a.i., addressed the Thai community and extended Thai New Year greetings to all attendees.
The event featured traditional Songkran activities, including the ceremonial pouring of water over Buddha images, monks, and elders, the sale of Thai food and products, Thai cultural performances, and a chanting ceremony to dedicate merit to beloved departed ones of the attendees.
The Royal Thai Embassy is pleased to witness the strength and unity of the Thai community in Belgium and neighboring countries, and commends the invaluable role of Wat Thai Dhammaram as a spiritual and cultural center for Thai and Buddhist communities in the region.
