On 3 May 2024, H.E. Mrs. Kanchana Patarachoke, Ambassador-Designate to Belgium, met with Mr. Carlo Luyckx and Mr. Koen Vermeulen, President and Secretary-General of Buddhist Union of Belgium (BUB) at the Embassy. Both sides exchanged views on the ongoing Buddhism recognition process as well as cooperation on disseminating the teachings of the Buddha in Belgium.
Buddhist Union of Belgium (BUB) was founded in 1997 by 30 Buddhist centres and temples in Belgium, including Wat Thai Dhammaram and Wat Dhammaprateep. BUB also works with the European Buddhist Union (EBU) to forge dialogue and social activities which are based on Buddhist teachings.
