On 14 November 2024, Her Excellency Mrs. Kanchana Patarachoke, Ambassador of Thailand, presented her Letters of Credence to His Excellency Mr. Charles Michel, President of the European Council, as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Head of the Mission of the Kingdom of Thailand to the European Union, at Europa Building, Brussels. She was accompanied by Ms. Siribhusaya Ungphakorn, Minister (Commercial Affairs), and Mr. Assarof Sasanakul, Counsellor.
Both parties reaffirmed the strong partnership between Thailand and the European Union, covering key areas such as trade and investment, sustainable development, human rights, and good governance with a shared commitment to strengthening cooperation at both bilateral and regional levels between ASEAN and the EU.
Free Trade Agreement negotiations between Thailand and the European Union are currently in progress.
Thailand and the European Union established its diplomatic relations on 28 August 1962. Thailand opened its mission to the European Economic Community on 12 December 1962. The European Community opened its office in Bangkok in 1978 as the first European Community delegation in South East Asia. Today, His Excellency Mr. David Daly is Ambassador of the European Union to Thailand.
