On 5 November 2024, H.E. Mrs. Kanchana Patarachoke, Ambassador-Designate/Head of Mission of Thailand to the European Union met with Mr. Niclas Kvarnström, Managing Director for Asia and the Pacific, European External Action Service (EEAS). The meeting was officially held after Ambassador-Designate had submitted the copies of the Credentials to Chief of Protocol of EEAS.

Both sides reaffirmed their partnership and commitment to shared values, such as human rights, sustainability, and environmental protection, and reviewed progress in their bilateral cooperation. Key topics included the upcoming establishment of the Thai-EU Joint Committee and its sub-committees under the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA), expected to take place in Brussels in the first half of 2025, and the 4th round of FTA negotiations, scheduled for November 25-29, 2024, in Bangkok.

They also discussed cooperation within existing frameworks, including the Labour Dialogue and the IUU Working Group. Additionally, they addressed the Schengen visa exemption for Thai nationals and Global Gateway initiatives, and exchanged views on current political developments and the regional situation.
