On 17 August 2023, Ms. Warunee Pan-Krajang, Charge d’Affaires A.I., together with the Embassy’s consular team, met the OASIS Welkom Project Leader accompanied by Thai and Belgian volunteers as well as local psychologist. The CDA praised the cooperation between the Embassy and OASIS Belgium in the past 5 years in addressing the plight of Thai citizens who faced domestic violence and labour exploitation in massage business, in Belgium. Both sides agreed to continue co-organising more proactive activities that are mainly focused on preventive measures including knowledge-sharing and upskilling in the future. On this occasion, the CDA presented the Embassy’s financial contribution in the amount of 50,000.- baht (or 1,443.- euro) to express the Embassy’s appreciation and support to the running of the foundation.

OASIS Belgium is a non-profit organisation in Belgium which is a key partner of the Embassy in assisting and protecting Thai people in Belgium and Luxembourg. OASIS Belgium’s flagship project -- Welkom Project -- has a sub-project that focuses on helping Thai women in trouble in Belgium from end to end ranging from assistance in improving their livelihood to their repatriation and resettlement in Thailand. To date, OASIS Belgium have helped over 80 Thai women in distress.

On the upcoming 13 September 2023, the Embassy will organise the online legal and mental health supporting session for Thai people in Belgium and Luxembourg where representatives from the Office of Attorney General of Thailand, the Department of Public Health of Thailand, and also OASIS Belgium will speak on 1) interesting Thai laws for Thais living aboard; 2) mental health management; 3) rights and benefits of Thai people in Belgium, and; 4) civil protection and assistance mechanism for Thai people who face domestic violence and exploitation in Belgium.
